U.S. Army South is home to five partner nation liaison officers to include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru, to assist in the coordination of security cooperation activities and increase awareness of our partner nation armies’ capabilities and strengths. Regional partnerships reflect our enduring promise to one another for a cooperative, prosperous and secure hemisphere.

Paratroopers from the Brazilian army have arrived to Fort Polk at the Joint Readiness Training Center on Jan. 5. Once they complete their two weeks of COVID-19 quarantine, they will join the 82nd Airborne Division for Rotation 21-04. We’re all looking forward to seeing the great things our countries will do as we train together.

Army South hosts DoD-wide personnel recovery reintegration working group

Personnel from U.S. Army South, Joint Base San Antonio and mission partners conduct debriefing rehearsals at the Army South Debriefing Facility Dec. 2 during the annual Personnel Recovery Reintegration Working Group. U.S. Army South hosted the annual Personnel Recovery Reintegration Working Group Dec. 1-3 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, as part of the command’s role to facilitate the personnel recovery reintegration process. Army South is U.S. Southern Command’s designated command to conduct phase one and phase two reintegration for all Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and DoD civilians and contractors in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility. Additionally, Army South conducts Army service-level phase three reintegration for all Soldiers and DA civilians and contractors worldwide. Army South also has a memorandum of understanding with the other services to support service phase three reintegration at JBSA.
