Army South Strong Bonds training addresses COVID-19 stressors to military families

U.S., Colombia Armies begin PISAJ 14

Command Sgt. Maj. Trevor Walker, U.S. Army South command sergeant major, and General-de-Brigada Alcides Faria, Jr., U.S. Army South deputy commanding general, virtually take part in the PISAJ 14 opening ceremony, today at Army South Headquarters on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. PISAJ an acronym in Spanish for “Programa Integral Para Suboficiales de Alta Jerarquia.” A comprehensive Program for Senior NCOs. This is a U.S. Army South-hosted, semi-annual, engagement between the U.S. and Colombia armies; designed to increase capacity and regional collaboration. PISAJ 14 also included senior NCOs from Brazil and Mexico.

JTF-BRAVO RESCUES VICTIMS OF HURRICANE ETA

Planning in Crisis event allows ARSOUTH, multinational planners to prepare for PANAMAX

Military officers from Brazil, Colombia and Peru conduct mission analysis as part of the Planning in Crisis exercise Oct. 28 hosted by U.S. Army South and held at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Oct. 26-30. The exercise allowed partner nations from the Western Hemisphere to plan and develop an operation order with component commands in preparation for the U.S. Southern Command PANAMAX exercise.

PANAMAX is an annual U.S. Southern Command-sponsored training exercise series with the objective of demonstrating the capability of participating nations to conduct coalition operations and is focused on ensuring the security of the Panama Canal and the surrounding region.

36th annual U.S.-Brazil army-to-army staff talks secure readiness, friendship between two partners

The U.S. Army Staff Talks Program serves as a bilateral engagement for military discussion between respective armies. This year marks the 36th time the U.S. Army and the Brazilian Army have met for staff talks, a weeklong series of meetings that is instrumental in enhancing interoperability and cooperation between the two partners.

Army South Soldier remains dedicated to coaching during pandemic

About 15 children maintained social distancing as they circled around their football coaches to receive instructions on their next drill. Conducted from Oct. 5-9, this was the first sports camp held on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston since the novel coronavirus pandemic began earlier this year.

“My overall love for sports is why I volunteer,” said Maj. John Twitty, U.S. Army South public affairs plans chief. “I want to teach kids the proper fundamentals and the importance of working together. It was special to be a part of coaching them and continue to have a strong tie with local community.”
