Army South strengthens partnerships with Jamaica Defence Force

Brig. Gen. Alcides Faria, left, U.S. Army South deputy commanding general for interoperability, visits with members of the Jamaica Defence Force April 29 in Up Park Camp, Kingston, Jamaica, to advance discussions on strengthening the partnership surrounding humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. Army South, which supports regional disaster relief efforts, was in integral in the donation of a field hospital to Jamaica through the Ministry of Health. The hospital was set up in Spanish Town by the JDF on March 31 to help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. U.S. Army South is committed to supporting the efforts of partner nations to increase institutional capacity and regional collaboration for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, one of the greatest challenges facing the region.
