More than 600 military personnel from the Chilean, Argentinian, and the United States armies are set to participate in Exercise Southern Fenix 24, a multinational exercise focused on enhancing interoperability for multi-domain operations in the Atacama Desert of Chile Aug. 27 to Sept. 5, 2024.

U.S. Soldiers with the 1st Security Forces Assistance Brigade (SFAB), a unit tasked with advising partner-nation conventional armies, participated in exercise Southern Fenix 24 (SF24) from Aug. 27 to Sept. 5, 2024, at Campo Militar Pozo Almonte, Chile. The team’s military occupational specialties ranged from cannon crew members to military intelligence specialists.

The Oklahoma “Steel Warriors” of the 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery Regiment (1-14 FAR) deployed to the Atacama Desert, located in the Tacapacá region, with the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) to conduct artillery training operations with the Chilean army during Southern Fenix 24 (SF24) at Campo Militar Pozo Almonte, Aug. 27 through Sep. 6 2024.

FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas – PANAMAX24 concluded, Aug. 14, wrapping up a week of intensive military training and collaboration among Western Hemisphere partner nations. The U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM)-sponsored exercise, held across various U.S. locations Aug. 9-14, aimed to enhance regional security and interoperability, bringing together multiple joint and multinational forces to tackle realistic scenarios and strengthen their abilities to plan and execute complex multinational operations.
