Maj. Gen. William L. Thigpen, left, U.S. Army South commanding general, recognizes Colombian Army Col. Raul Medina Valenzuela, right, the Colombian liaison officer to U.S. Army South, at the U.S. Army South headquarters Sept. 24. During a farewell ceremony, Medina was recognized for many accomplishments, as well as for his leadership skills and mission focus, which greatly strengthened the relationship between the Colombian and U.S. armies. U.S. Army South is home to five partner nation liaison officers to include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru, to assist in the coordination of security cooperation activities and increase awareness of our partner nation armies' capabilities and strengths.
