Army South Contingency Command Post conducts deployment readiness exercise

Army South personnel learn pallet loading and securing at Kelly Air Force Base Sept. 14 as part of the Army South Contingency Command Post during a level II deployment readiness exercise. At any time, an incident could occur in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility, which requires the deployment of the ARSOUTH CCP to provide a command and control node or to form the nucleus of a joint task force when directed. Readiness is Army South’s first priority – ensuring that our Soldiers have the tools and training they need to be lethal and ready to fight and win when called upon in support of global operations.

Operation Alamo Shield Mission Prep is an Army South-led academics program that increases regional awareness, outlines and explains policy guidance, and highlights lessons learned from previous Security Force Assistance activities for rotating SFA teams. As the Joint Forces Land Component Command for U.S. Southern Command, U.S. Army South serves as the higher headquarters for the Security Force Assistance teams in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility, as they use their unique set of skills, experience and advanced technology to train and advise partner nations in the region.

Army South-led CENTAM Working Group allows for future exercise planning in Latin America

U.S. Army South hosted the second annual Central American Working Group (CENTAM WG) with army staff leaders from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras as part of a virtual event Aug. 23-27 to continue to seek training opportunities between the four armies.

U.S. Army South security cooperation personnel accompany delegates from the Chilean army to visit the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, California, Aug. 21. During the visit Chilean army infantry and armor officers observed Stryker formations from the 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division train during Rotation 2109. Interoperability allows our Soldiers and systems, and those of other countries, to operate in conjunction with each other, which is critical to bolstering an extended network of partnerships capable of decisively meeting shared challenges.

U.S. Army South medical personnel conduct a subject matter expert exchange with Ecuadorian Army medical professionals in Quito, Ecuador, Aug. 22-27. During the exchange, the partner nation armies will discuss urban tactics, casualty evacuations and under fire training. U.S. Army South is committed to creating opportunities that increase collaboration, enhance interoperability and assist in building partner nation capacity.
